My Tech
Guru can help you fix your own
printer, if you can answer a few
simple questions and follow a set of simple instructions. Many printers
are designed to be nearly disposable and the cost of their repair
could be higher than a replacement. In some of the nearly
disposable printer cases, and business class laser printers, if you intend to fix the printer
yourself, it could be cost effective for you to give it a try. If
the printer is moderately expensive to replace, and worth the cost
of a repair, you should find that you can save a good deal of
money if you can fix it yourself. However, you will also need to
know where to buy parts and supplies inexpensively if you intend
to save the most money on this do-it-yourself project. If the
printer is not disposable, please read the options below.
Printer Maintenance
Printer maintenance is simply the page count cycle when
the manufacturer recommends replacing a few parts that have
reached the end of their life expectancy. Similar to changing the
oil in your car, these maintenance intervals are designed to keep
your printing equipment functioning properly and help reduce more
costly repairs due to lack of maintenance. Nearly all printers
have these maintenance cycles and the manufacturer's provide the
common parts, usually in kits. Common printing problems, paper
jams, or image defects are frequently maintenance related items.

As with anything you want to
learn, you have a choice about how and where to study and learn
about the subject. Most available printer repair training courses
have assumed that you should know about things such as "image
formation" or "laser theory." If you go to your
local Barnes and Noble or search through amazon.com you will find
books that are hundreds of pages in
length - 300 to 500 pages or more. Scary thought isn't it? The
truth is that you don't need to know half of what these sources
try to teach you about printer repair and maintenance. The other
half might be pertinent, but why take 200 - 250 pages to tell you
about something that can be made simple? In a matter of only
a few hours we can show you how to perform basic laser printer
maintenance and repair on nearly any laser printer.Bold
statement?Let us back it
up.
This
(the training DVD) should really be able to show people
how easy basic printer maintenance is.

The My Tech Guru Basic Laser Printer Repair And
Maintenance video training will show you step-by step how
to perform basic repair and maintenance on nine common types of HP,
Lexmark, and Xerox office printers. We will teach you the "mindset" you
need to quickly and easily isolate the cause or source of the problem;
basically, this is troubleshooting skill. We will show you how to
quickly and easily find the pertinent pages in the service manual
that relate to the exact issue that you are faced with; no need to
even care that the service manual is more than 400 pages in
length. We use the nine common types of HP, Lexmark, and Xerox office printers as
examples in the training video, but more importantly, when we show
you how to master the service manual, you can master nearly any
type of printer repair.
Have you ever bought a desk, book case,
bicycle, or piece of furniture that required you to assemble
it? They provide instructions so that you can assemble it,
step-by-step. Did you need to know the composition of the
material, the formula of the paint, or the "gauge"
of the metal used to make the screws? Absolutely not! You
simply assemble the product.
If a single component, such as a transistor or
resister, failed on a circuit board would you want to find
that exact component so that you could replace only that
single failed component? Absolutely not! You would simply
replace the circuit board.
We approach basic laser printer repair and
maintenance in much the same way. Our video shows you nine common
types of HP, Lexmark, and Xerox office printers, but that is only to help your
confidence in seeing the simplicity of the step-by-step approach.
If we show you these nine printers, teach you where to find the
step-by-step instructions to isolate the issue, and show you the
step-by-step instructions to solve the problem, could you complete
a basic printer repair? Of course; it is just like assembling the
book case or bicycle.
Most importantly, after you know where to find the
step-by-step
instructions to help you isolate the issue, and the step-by-step
instructions to help you solve the problem, could you apply that
knowledge to virtually any laser printer whether you had a
"how to" video or not? Absolutely!
Was it necessary to spend $400 on a course to
learn "laser theory"? NO!
Was it necessary to buy a 500 page book? NO!
Was it necessary to read a 400 page service
manual? NO!
Not only are we going to give you the
step-by-step instructions for several common types of printers, we
are going to show you where and how to find the step-by-step
instructions for nearly any laser printer model. This
alone will help empower you with the confidence to tackle nearly
any printer repair task - from basic to advanced, if you like.
The
video is simple enough for most people to understand. It
should be a great help for someone just beginning
printer repair.

I
just want to say that your DVD and Service Manuals where a great
contribution to me. The DVD gave good insight on the common
internal parts of a printer that need to be replaced and
maintained and the Service Manuals showed me how to do it. I
followed step by step on how to remove the assembly for the . . .
printer and had no problems. We have been outsourcing from
somebody to fix our printers and my work is hoping I can do it now
instead.
